Remembering a loved one with a flag that proudly flies over their final resting place is now possible with the Standard of Pride. This is a very simple device that helps you express very complicated emotions.

The genesis of this innovation occurred to inventors Kevin Miller and Pat Purcell (please click on "IN THE NEWS" section) of Alton, Illinois, when Kevin's older brother, Tom, was killed while serving in the Viet Nam war in 1969. The Standard of Pride idea was born while searching for a way to honor Tom with a graveside marker that featured our national emblem. The obvious choice was to create a durable, weather resistant memorial that would last for years. Kevin and Pat's two year research and development program guaranteed a completely American made product that eliminated the use of low-quality materials often made over seas. The irony of honoring an American hero with foreign made products was not lost on these two inventors.

The Standard of Pride is a unique, patent pending device. It enables a flagpole to fit securely in a "drop out of sight' flower vase which is attached to a low profile grave marker. The vase model is a removable fixture easily installed allowing room for floral displays. The fixture may remain installed in the vase, allowing the flag to be removed by simply unscrewing the flag pole from the mount. The vertical headstone Standard of Pride system attaches to the rear of the headstone securing the flagpole.

Now you can honor your loved ones with a flag component that is ingenious in its design and completely American made. The Standard of Pride can be personalized with flag options that include: organ donor, organizational emblems (Shriners, Masons, Knights of Columbus, and others), holiday / seasonal, names, or customized wording - just to name a few.
